Polly's Story

                                   Hello and welcome to Sassy Critters - Polly's story.         Polly is a little guy with a very big attitude. Polly is known as a Bold jumping spider who lives all over North America. Polly came to live with me, a 1st time spider mom, at 2 months old. He was born in a pet store, where he was all alone .. luckily I found him and brought him home. Polly seemed so excited when I showed him his new home! He jumped right in his new house. He explored his new house up and down, side to side. I think Polly knew he found a new home that was warm and cozy. He was even happier when I gave him his dinner. For dinner he had 3 fruit flies and then he put himself to bed on the hammock I had made him out of a sock!      The next day Polly must have been tired from the drive home from the pet store and all the exploring he did when ...

WORMS

                                 Worms     Polly came out his hammock after shedding or also called molting his exoskeleton, or skin. It was a lot of work for him. He was in his silk hammock he made for 2 weeks without eating so he was sure hungry! He was happy when I gave him a worm. Not a worm you find outside in the garden, I give Poly what's called a wax worm, wax worms are white and fat. He will eat every few days or he will eat and eat and eat! Jumping spiders also eat other bugs such as crickets, flies, different kinds of worms. Right now Polly's favorite bugs to eat are wax worms, small crickets and fruit flies. Jumping spiders also like watermelon, strawberries, honey mixed with water and sugar water! Sounds kind of funny that a spider would like fruit and sugar doesn't it!?
